This is a stunning 19th-century style repousse brass plaque featuring a classic scene of three cherubs (or putti) amidst a floral and foliage background. The high-relief detail is characteristic of Rococo or Neoclassical design, common in French decorative arts.
The plaque is currently mounted on a vintage, dark fabric-covered board, highlighting its rich, aged gold patina. Whether used as a standalone wall accent or repurposed as a decorative furniture mount, this piece adds a touch of timeless European elegance to any space.
It measures 5.25” x 5.25”
Please note- there is lots of wear to this due to age. The casting itself is in overall good vintage condition with light patina. I believe it is brass, but could also be bronze.
The fabric on the plaque is in very rough shape. It was blue velvet at one time, which you can see on the back, but the front is very faded, stained, and is torn.
There is a screw on the back the easily turns. You could take the casting out of the plaque if desired.
I have looked on the back, as well as on the back of the casting, and do not see any markings.
Either way, it’s a beautiful piece of history! It will make a lovely addition to someone’s space :)
